{Sponsored Post}: Zoara!

April 29, 2011

I know when I was getting married it was especially important to us to find a jeweler we could trust. I know that for my husband, this was especially true. He wanted to be traditional and choose my engagement ring all by himself. Therefore, he didn't have my input nor really any guidance when it comes to making this oh-so-important purchase. He was intent upon the proposal being a surprise! I know... romantic right?

When you're in the market for diamonds or fine jewelry, let's face it...it can be a little intimidating! What I love about Zoara is that they are committed to helping you make educated, well-informed decisions regarding your diamond or jewelry purchase. They truly understand that for diamond-buying novices, investing in a diamond can seem like an overwhelming, daunting endeavor, and they are intent upon providing you with the information and education you'll need in order for you to make your best decision. What's not to love about that?

For over a decade, Zoara has been committed to providing the highest quality diamonds and jewelry. Their spectacular engagement ring collection, featuring thousands of radiant diamonds and settings is the kind that will keep you browsing on their site for hours. I'm personally loving their user-friendly 'Design Your Own Ring' Feature!

I think what I love most about Zoara is that they are dedicated to offering their customers diamonds and jewelry of the most superior quality. This is ensured on two fronts. First, their suppliers provide diamonds that have been certified by the GIA and the AGS, the diamond industry's leaders in diamond quality certification. Second, their in-house team of Certified Gemologists, Certified Gemologist Appraisers and Registered Jewelers provide a further professional guarantee of quality.

Zoara's goal is to provide you with the largest possible selection of diamonds and fine jewelry, at the lowest possible cost. Fine jewelry made affordable? Sounds perfect, no? {The Royal Wedding}: A Palette of Gold Leaf, Ivory & White

April 28, 2011

{Gold Leaf, Ivory & White}

With all the talk and excitement leading up to the royal wedding, I decided it would be sort of fun to come up with a palette for none other than bride-to-be, Kate Middleton. Now, a royal wedding is not like any other wedding. It's a wedding that's going to be viewed by millions of people world wide. It seems to me that the world is divided into two camps right about now. One camp is excited and practically sitting on the edge of their seats as they wait to see this historical wedding unfold. And then there's the camp of folks who could care less. Admittedly, I hadn't thought much about the royal wedding up until a few days ago when I watched a special on television about William + Kate's romance and their courtship. After watching that program though, I joined all of you who are sitting on the edges of your seats! I may or may not have a small crush on the prince! And yes, my DVR is set! {continued...}

Escort Card Display + Bridal Crown {image by Elizabeth Messina}

Now, I too can't wait to find out what Kate will be wearing? I'm loving the feel of this image by Elizabeth Messina! It's so romantic yet regal all at the same time. Are you hoping Kate is a little daring with her dress or would you rather her go the traditional, conservative route? Personally, I'm loving the looks of this escort card display by Martha Stewart Weddings! Manzanita branches and berry clusters were sprayed gold and hung from ribbons. Threaded over them are wide ochre ribbons that hold seating cards in place. Glittering millinery flowers add the final touch.

David's Bridal!

April 26, 2011

David's Bridal has such a great selection of bridesmaid dresses! Whether you're looking for dresses for your destination beach wedding, or attire that will look lovely for your chapel wedding, you're bound to find both a color and a style that you will absolutely love! Have you taken a peek at all of their beautiful color options? There are so many pretty dresses to choose from! How's a bride to decide? I remember how it was...choosing your bridesmaid dresses can seem a little stressful at times...But believe me, it doesn't have to be! Here are some tips I came up with that are helpful to keep in mind while shopping!

Know Your Own Bridal Style
If you are the bride, before you even start looking at bridesmaid dresses it helps to have chosen your own wedding gown ahead of time. In addition, having a good idea of the overall look, theme & color palette you want to acheive is also important. You want to make sure that your bridesmaid dresses fit with the overall style of the wedding and complement you and your groom in all of the wedding photography.

Determine the Color & Length
Let's face it, there are so many pretty dresses that it can get overwhelming! The best thing to do is to narrow your options. Establish the color & length of the dress first, and then choose a few different styles you like. David's Bridal has a impressive selection of colors! Remember when choosing the color to consider whether it will work for each of your friends. The wrong choice could make them look washed out or a size bigger which won't make them feel very good about themselves! It’s also popular these days to have different styles for each bridesmaid in the same fabric which can be a win-win option!

Consider Your Bridesmaids
Do your friends all look alike? Important factors to consider are size, shape, age, and coloring. A dress that looks great on one girl may look hideous on another! Ask your friends if there are any styles they wouldn't feel comfortable in and take this into consideration when shopping. You want your friends to have a great time at your wedding so do your part to make sure they'll feel great in an outfit they love. Be careful, however, not to give your bridesmaids free reign or they might all want completely different styles which could create unnecessary tension. Oh, and make sure the dress you choose is affordable since often times the ladies in your wedding will be paying for their own dresses.

Fabric is important!
Don’t forget to think about fabric when you choose your dresses! If you’re having a Summer wedding you need a lighter fabric and the opposite for an Autumn or Winter wedding. Remember too that the choice of fabric teamed with the style and color can shed or add pounds to your bridesmaids so choose carefully.

Fittings and Ordering
Always get your bridesmaids professionally measured as different manufacturers will use different sizing. The last fitting when the dresses come in should be at least 3 – 4 weeks before the wedding to allow for any last minute alterations. Don’t just pick the dresses up a week before the wedding thinking it will be enough time and hoping they will fit like a glove! It’s a good idea to order all your bridesmaids dresses together to ensure that they are all cut from the same dye-lot otherwise you could end up with a slightly different color for each which will really show up on the photos.

{Palette Love} Red, Black & White

April 25, 2011

This palette is so sweet, yet so simple! Black and white have long been a classic duo, but I just love the addition of red. It's classic, it's elegant, it's fun and it's darn right charming, wouldn't you agree? There are just so many things you can do with this palette. I personally love to see wedding palettes like this used in rustic, country locations. I'm picturing a little red barn, someplace off the beaten path.

1. newlyweds in love 2. cupcake stand 3. ruby red heels 4. cupcakes 5. calligraphy

Now I might be a little biased since I did graduate from the University of Georgia and our colors are red, black and white, but hey, you have to admit, these colors were born to go hand in hand. I'm loving those ruby red heels! They effortlessly compliment the sophisticated calligraphy of Laura Hooper. Oh, and who could resist those yummy and delicious looking cupcakes? So what do you think about this palette? I personally love it because whether you put your bridesmaids in red or black, they're bound to wear their dress again!

Although at 8 months I'm sure he will care less about finding eggs or opening his Easter basket. Maybe next year, right? Either way, I'm just happy to celebrate with my family and see him in his cute little Easter outfit.

What is on your agenda for the day? If you celebrate Easter, I'd love to know what your plans are? Grilling out with family? Attending church? Maybe an egg hunt or two?

{Just Peachy} A Palette of Peach, Ivory, White & Black

April 21, 2011

{Peach, Ivory, White & Black}

Nothing says Spring like the color peach. Personally, I adore this color. Not only because it's effortlessly pretty, but because it really is the perfect color to use for a wedding. This color has all kinds of good vibes associated to it. Romance, sweetness, love - all the things we dreamt of as little girls! But what about our hubby's-to-be who say 'no way' to peach, pink or any other 'girly' color? How do we convince them that it won't be overly sweet, or overly 'girly'? Well, the answer is simple, pair it with black. And don't be afraid to use quite a bit of black. Typically, we see black in the groomsmen attire, naturally. But why not incorporate some more to create a strong visual contrast like the example below? {continued...}

Details We Love
Chair Detail + Champagne Toast

I personally love the black chairs. They stand out boldly, in a very fun and modern way. Plus, who isn't loving the little paper pinwheel with ribbons attached? I think that's a very fun way to add a touch of femininity. And don't those groomsmen look so nice with classic black tuxedos and peach colored neckties? What I like about this palette is there is a lot of texture and layering. Just look at that tablescape! A real peach at each place setting? How cute is that? Oh, and why not toast with pink champagne?
