{Party Palette}: Pretty Pastels

March 29, 2013
Happy Friday, loves! So if you're anything like I am, then you're super happy that Spring is officially here. And with Easter coming this weekend, I thought it would be fun to put together a pretty palette of Spring pastels. Soft blues really do look lovely with peach and yellow. I'm absolutely loving the looks of these colored eggs and these gorgeous soft florals!

Pastels just have a way of taking me somewhere else. Somewhere dreamy. Somewhere beautiful. So tell me, what do you love about Spring? And if you celebrate Easter, tell me all about the plans you have going on this weekend? My girls will celebrate their first Easter on Sunday so we're definitely looking forward to taking part in all of our family traditions with our newest additions! I hope whatever you do that you have a lovely weekend! Make it a good one, friends!

{Pantone Color Report}: Fall 2013!

March 18, 2013

Did you hear? Pantone came out with their top colors picks for Fall, 2013! And I can't begin to share my excitement! It's definitely fun to see Pantone's tops picks for the season. And with an array of happy hues as pretty as these, I'm instantly seeing the party planning potential in each of their choices. And well, I couldn't be more thrilled to weigh in with my thoughts and opinions. Especially when it comes to how this will translate in the world of wedding color palettes.
First up, we have this beautiful, berry infused shade that goes by the name, Vivacious. Elegant,  enchanting, and surely the sort of color perfect for your upcoming soiree, this wildly deep fuchsia is all about adding a touch of sensuality to the palette. I suggest pairing Vivacious with anchoring Deep Lichen Green, a naturally lush shade of green, and you'll have a palette that captures both ends of the seasonal spectrum. Or why not keep things simple and pair it with a touch of antique gold like I've done here?

Next up on this year's ''it'' color list for Fall is this spicy shade of red that Pantone is calling Samba! Praised for it's intensity, I'm loving this powerful color and I hope you can see why! I suggest pairing fiery hues like this with understated neutrals. And I'm especially loving the way it looks with burlap!

Looking for a color that will add richness and a beautiful glow that would be difficult to ignore? Why not consider Koi? This shade absolutely captures the spirit of Fall with it's shimmering qualities and can be combined with many of these colors to create pretty and powerful Fall combinations. Feeling as though your palette is lacking oomph? I suggest adding a pop of Koi to make a statement both in your wardrobe and in your wedding!

Next up, we have this soft shade of green that Pantone is calling, Linden Green! Soft, sultry and surely the sort of palette that embodies the idea of growth and new life, Linden Green is a breath of fresh air and definitely the kind of color that I love for weddings and parties. I suggest keeping it simple by pairing it with a crisp, clean white like I've done here.

Love green, but looking for a color with a bit more depth? Why not consider a color like Deep Lichen Green? Praised for it's richness and earthy flair, I love this shade because I find it to be unexpectedly pretty and not entirely overused. I love the idea of using shades of green in a garden setting or even an outdoor Fall affair! Perhaps a vineyard even?

With the changing season, as you might expect, the greens from Spring will evolve and develop. Multifaceted Emerald continues to sparkle and fascinate, bringing luxury and elegance to the palette. I suggest pairing this year's color of the year with Mykonos Blue, a bold, meditative blue, for a classic and preppy look.

Have a passion for all things purple? Well, then I invite you to take a quick peek at this pretty shade that Pantone is calling Acai! Rich, gorgeous, and surely the sort of color that exudes a royal flair, I suggest pairing this elegant shade of purple with Emerald for a regal disposition, or spirited Samba red for an expressive and dramatic look.

Looking for a color that exudes a sense of calm and relaxation? Mykonos Blue is a color that I'm really loving and I'm so glad it made Pantone's list for Fall! Anchoring Mykonos Blue is a classic shade that offers both depth and a richness to an entire palette. I personally love to see this color used in nautical themed weddings. Combine Mykonos Blue with basic white to achieve a nautical inspired look. Or consider mixing it with Emerald for a palette that will surely wow!

{top row}: striped dress, save the datesshells via rebecca thuss,{bottom row}: boattented receptionnautical table numbers.

Rounding out this season's cornerstone colors, Turbulence, a dark mercurial gray, and Carafe, a rich, glamorous brown, provide more interesting and sophisticated alternatives to the black basics usually worn in colder months. Both staple neutrals pair effortlessly with more expressive colors within the palette, such as SambaKoi and Vivacious. I personally have always been a fan of shades of gray.

And what's not to love about a palette of rich browns like this one? Carafe is surely a color that's big in the world of weddings and from the looks of these gorgeous details, I can surely see why! Although I love to see brown used in a rustic way, I also think there's something to be said about using it in a very elegant way like this. Here, I've paired it with antique gold and a touch of ivory. It's a rustic, yet elegant affair!

So what do you think? How are you liking this parade of Pantone colors? Any favorites that stand out for you? Any colors you might not have considered before? So tell me... how might you use these colors? In your upcoming wedding? In your wardrobe, perhaps? Or maybe these colors have inspired something else? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

{Happily Ever After}: A Palette of Mustard, Black + White

March 14, 2013

{Mustard, Black + White}

Okay, guys so I know I've sort of been consumed with all things Spring here lately. But can you blame me? Spring colors are a breath of fresh air to me especially after a long chilly winter! But today I thought I'd change it up a bit and put together a palette perfect for the end of Summer or better yet... for Fall! (only my most favorite season of them all). So settle in lovelies because your morning is about to go to the next level of pretty thanks to this make-your-heart-happy board! Today, I bring you mustard. Mustard paired with a pinch of ivory and black. So what do you think? First impressions? I for one am really loving this look! Want to know why?

Details I Love
Happily Ever After Pillow and Bride with Balloons

Well, that's because mustard is the kind of color that is often passed over when it comes to weddings and parties. Perhaps it's feared for it's intensity or maybe some don't see all the party planning potential that this happy, yet oh-so rich and elegant hue has? I think it's an easily misunderstood color. And definitely one that is underestimated. In any case, I'm a huge fan. Because who isn't loving these gigantic happy balloons and this gorgeous table display? Oh, and that slice of butterscotch cake? Yeah, that cake looks pretty decadent. Anyone with me?

{Wedding Wardrobe}: Dusty Blue

March 5, 2013
Good morning, loves. And happy Tuesday to you! Just wanted to pop in to share with you a new addition to the wedding wardrobe series I started here recently. I think a lot of you fell in love with this gorgeous shade when I first shared it with you back in October of last year. Go ahead and refresh your memory here in case you forgot. Don't worry I'll be here when you get back! So as you can see, a lot of you gushed over this silvery blue hue for it's uniqueness. And most of you recognized it as a color that just hasn't been used a lot in weddings. So today I thought I'd have some fun and explore some pretty wedding wardrobe options! First up, I can't tell you how much I'm loving this beautiful lace dress. Sweet and feminine, it's dresses like this one that I can surely imagine for bridesmaids!

Add in some girly accessories and some ties fit for the fellas, and you'll be ready to celebrate in style! I happen to really like the idea of incorporating a subtle floral theme within the accessories you choose - as seen on these ballet flats, these earrings and these bobby pins. Plus who isn't loving these adorable heels and their fun and frilly accents? Now, you may notice a slight variation in color here. And honestly, I say that's perfectly fine! Not everything has to be the exact. same. color. Trust me, if something doesn't match exactly, it's not the end of the world. It actually adds depth and character if you ask me. So what do you think? Are you thinking this color might be the one for you? Oh, and don't forget to shop this look below!

{Wedding Colors I love}: Navy Blue, Coral + Antique Gold!

March 4, 2013
Here recently I received a request from a lovely reader who explained to me that she was dreaming of a nautical inspired wedding with elegant touches. She said she appreciated both modern and vintage styles, but that she was at a loss on how to pull all of her ideas together. Could I bring it to life, she asked? Of course! I said. I don't know about you, but I'm finding myself falling more and more in love with the color navy blue! Add in some vibrant coral, and some pretty pinches of gold and you've got yourself a look that's super pretty. Want to add modern flair to your wedding styling? I suggest incorporating bold prints as seen here on these table numbers and clutches. I even chose a necklace with stripes just for good measure! To me, these prints and patterns feel nautical without going to overboard.

I like the way that navy blue contrasts with coral because they truly do pop when paired together. And just to keep things interesting, I suggest incorporating a little bit of antique gold. This little bit of gold adds a vintage feel as seen here in the gold vessels used as centerpieces. Plus they perfectly incorporate the colors I've featured here which is quite a treat to see. So what do you think? Are you feeling inspired by my take on nautical meets modern meets vintage?
