{With a Cherry on Top}: A Palette of Red + White

August 31, 2011 / 52 Comments

{Red+ White}

I don't know about you, but I love red in a way that I don't love most colors. I guess you could say it's definitely on my favorites list. I suppose what I love most is the fact that red is such an intense color that it truly makes a statement in small quantities. Take these yummy looking cherry topped cupcakes for instance. They're simple and sweet and that little pop of red really has a way of standing out! But here's the thing...red sort of has a bad rap for being overplayed when it comes to weddings. Am I right? I mean...I get it. Red is the color of love and so it doesn't make for the most unique color choice. So I had this idea...Not to sway all you red lovers out there who are considering using red for their weddings, but I propose that using red would make for such a fun engagement party and/or a bridal shower palette. {continued...}

Cherry Topped Cupcakes + Red Lipstick

I mean, don't get me wrong red can be used in all kinds of pretty ways on your wedding day! I just happen to think that the idea of using a red palette along with cheesy red hearts like the ones shown attached to this pretty pair of heels seems sort of fun and playful and a theme best suited for a pre-wedding party. Oh, and being a red lipstick girl myself, I can definitely appreciate anyone who decides to rock red lipstick. To me, there is nothing more exciting than to see red used in a way that pops! So whether you opt to use red on your wedding day or for one of your pre-wedding parties, just know that you have my approval!

{Caribbean Color}: A Palette of Shades of Teal, Orange + White

August 26, 2011 / 59 Comments

{Deep Teal, Burnt Orange, Orange, Dusty Aqua + White}

One thing that I've been looking forward to all Summer is the beach vacation I've been planning all year long! To be honest with you, I seriously cannot remember the last time I went to the beach! Either way, it's definitely been too long. There are few things that make me happier than being by the ocean. That's why I have been counting down the days. Plus, it doesn't hurt that we managed to book a beach house directly on the beach which is definitely a first for me. I mean, I've stayed a block from the beach, but never have I ever stayed in a house directly on the beach. {continued...}

Actually, now that I think about it...My last real vacation probably was our honeymoon back in '09 when we went on a Caribbean cruise. It was one of those trips where we had such a great experience, that I've been dying to jump back on that cruise ship and do it again ever since we got back home. The places we visited were the Bahamas, St. Marten, St. Thomas, St. John, and Turks and Caicos. I will always cherish that first week as husband and wife and all the fun we had together surrounded by beautiful aqua colored water and gorgeous scenery.

The colors were vibrant and for a lack of a better word...so tropical. And so that got me thinking about what colors would make the perfect Caribbean inspired palette. And so off to the drawing board I went...and here you have it! A tropical palette of shades of aqua and orange. So what do you think? Are you in need of a vacation right about now? And if so, what's your idea of the perfect getaway?

{Autumn Elegance}: A Palette of Fig, Light Plum, Antique Gold, Ivory + White

August 24, 2011 / 63 Comments

{Fig, Light Plum, Antique Gold, Ivory + White}

As we near the end of Summer, it seems to me that there are two schools of thought. Some people wouldn't love anything more than to hold onto Summer as long as they can - and then there are others, like myself, who more than welcome the change of season and everything that comes along with it. I think Fall has some of the prettiest palettes. And this one is no exception. Here lately I've really been attracted to shades of purple and I especially am loving this fig color. It's such an intense color and it really goes nicely with antique gold. {continued...}

What I love most about this palette is the attention to detail. From the handmade dinner menus complete with antique gold ink, to the lovely table numbers, this palette has so many creative things going for it. I personally love how elegant this feels - the elegance is seen in the gorgeous china and the lace detailing on the bride's gown. Plus, who isn't loving the bride's whimsical and romantic hairstyle? I have to admit, I'm completely smitten with that sweet little hair flower.

{Sail Away With Me}: A Palette of Navy Blue + White

August 23, 2011 / 59 Comments

{Navy Blue + White}

Nothing makes me feel more alive than being on the water - and that's why {just between you and me} I'm getting very excited about my upcoming beach trip. I have to admit, I even have a countdown. As a wedding theme, I've always loved the idea of a nautical theme. Because what's not to love? Navy blue is such a classy color and when paired with stripes and subtle nautical details, something really special happens. I love how clean this feels. Although I mostly imagine this theme looking lovely in a yacht club setting due to all the preppy details, there are plenty of other nautical locales that would work well with this theme. {continued...}

So tell me, is anyone else a fan of this navy blue + white palette? It's definitely one of my all time favorite palettes.

{Milk + Honey}: A Palette of Shades of Yellow + White

August 22, 2011 / 55 Comments

{Shades of Yellow, Camel + White}

When I think of the perfect Summer wedding, I often find myself gravitating towards yellow. Maybe it's because yellow reminds me of sunshine? Or maybe it's just because I feel like yellow THE feel good color that encompasses everything I love about Summer? I suppose what I love most about Summer is that light-hearted and carefree feeling that only Summer brings. And do you blame me for wishing that it was possible to bottle that feeling up and take it with me right into the Winter months? So I guess it’s really no surprise that today’s inspiration board is easy going and totally simple. A sweet palette of yellow + white that incorporates a very subtle honeybee theme and a lovely old fashioned swing in a sweet country setting. Sounds like a delightful way to spend the day to me.
