The Perfect Palette: {Color Your Wedding Beautiful}: Palettes I Love!

July 28, 2011 / 56 Comments

When it comes to helping you with your color conundrums, I'm your girl. Truth be told, reading my new palette requests in the morning is actually one of the greatest, most favorite parts of my day. Why, you ask? Well, that's because I get to hear from you! I hope you know and realize that there's nothing that puts a bigger smile on my face than receiving an email from a reader about how thankful they are for my help.

The simple truth is that helping you is what I L-O-V-E to do. It's what makes me tick. Want to know what else makes me tick? Yep, you guessed it, colors! Bright colors, soft colors, sweet colors, vintage colors, creative colors, and the list goes on... Today I'm sharing just a few of my favorite types of colors! What are your favorite colors?

Do you find yourself gravitating toward sweet colors like peaches and pinks?

Or maybe you'd rather surround yourself with a vintage color palette? What's a vintage palette you ask? Well, to me a vintage palette has very little real color and relies heavily on neutrals to do the story telling.

Or maybe you love creative colors. You know, strong color palettes that pop and make a bold + graphic statement. I love creative palettes because you often can easily incorporate fun details, like these old fashioned coca cola bottles for instance.

A timeless palette is one that won't ever go out of style. It's not trendy nor overpowering. It's not bold or in your face. It's simple, sweet and will never go out of style. For that reason, I love timeless color palettes.

What's better than timeless color? Simple color! You know, monochromatic palettes that come together effortlessly. Those are the type of palettes where it's hard to make a mistake. They're easy peasy and that's what makes them a winner in my book.

I'm also a huge fan of homespun elegance. You know, colors that you can easily use to bring your handcrafted and DIY projects to life! I love this jar centerpiece idea!

Another type of color I can never get enough of are unique colors. You know, the colors you don't often see every day? Like mint for instance. Mint is a color that I just added to the color palette here on The Perfect Palette and I can't wait to play around with it some more. Unique colors make me happy.

And lastly, I love charming colors. You know...colors that just have a way of making you feel good. Colors that allow you to easily incorporate charming details. Colors that exude a specialness that not all colors have. There's a world full of color out there and I, myself am learning and discovering new colors and new color palettes every day. And you want to know what? I feel so lucky to be able to share my color ideas with you on a daily basis! So tell me, what kind of colors make your heart skip a beat? Oh, and what colors would you like to see featured here that I don't have featured here already? We're only 3 away from having 50 colors in the color palette!

{Fall Farmhouse}: A Palette of Burnt Orange, Orange, Latte, Antique Gold + White

July 27, 2011 / 39 Comments

{Burnt Orange, Orange, Latte, Antique Gold + White}

I have a confession to make. Remember last week when I was sharing Winter inspiration with the hopes that it would cool you down during this crazy heat wave? Well, the truth is I'd be over-the-moon excited if Fall would just hurry up and get here. Don't get me wrong, I do love Winter weddings, but Fall and I have a serious relationship and always will. What can I say? Fall weddings were sort of like my first love. Sure I grew to love other seasons when it comes to weddings, but I will always have a soft spot for Fall weddings. For me, nothing compares to the cooler weather that Fall brings. Not to mention the beautiful and intense colors that come with the leaves changing. I adore this season and always will. That's why when Lainey wrote to me with this palette in mind, I was more than happy to put together some inspiration for her. {continued...}

Details We Love!
Newlyweds in Love + Pretty Crown

For Lainey's wedding I pictured a small gathering of friends and family. I don't know about you, but there's something so sweet about the idea of getting married out on an old lovely farmhouse. Somewhere quaint, quiet and special. Somewhere far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. That's my idea of the perfect wedding. What's your idea of the perfect wedding? And by the way, am I the only crazy one wishing Fall would hurry up and get here?

{Wedding Food + Drink Round Up}: And Palettes to Coordinate!

July 26, 2011 / 42 Comments
{Wedding Food + Drink Presentation with Palettes to Coordinate!}

Okay, get ready for a lengthy post! Fortunately for us, there are many ways you can use color to bring your wedding to life. So many that I had a hard time choosing which ones to share! One of the ways is through your wedding food and drink presentation. Looking back at my own wedding I'm so glad that I took the time to incorporate my color palette into all of the details including the food and drink presentation.

Besides choosing a signature drink, one of the things we did was to set up a popcorn bar for a late night snack. We gave our guests a few options when it came to flavors, but moreover I made sure to create an engaging display that showcased our colors. I created special popcorn bags that included our names, our wedding date and the quote 'Love is sharing your popcorn' which my guests thought were so fun!

Our popcorn bar was a huge hit at our wedding and created a really interactive + fun place for my guests to get up and mingle. Being an admitted foodie myself, I can't tell you how much I L-O-V-E it when I see brides putting extra through into their wedding food + drink presentation.

And it doesn't take a lot to make a huge statement. I'm seriously smitten with these cute little drink stirrers! Oh, and check out this adorable serving tray! Such a fun and playful presentation. And so easy too!

And wouldn't this lemon thyme sorbet be the perfect treat for a Spring or Summer wedding? So refreshing looking. And what a simple and sweet presentation this is.

I don't know about you, but when it comes to displaying tarts, I can't think of a sweeter way to display these than on a color coordinating cake stand.

At a loss for ideas when it comes to getting creative with your presentation? I love this idea from Martha Stewart! Miniature baguettes double as seat assignments. How sweet and completely original!

Patron anyone? I seriously can't think of a more creative idea. I'd love to see this at a wedding! Such a fun idea and definitely one your guests probably haven't seen before.

Believe me, your guests will notice the extra thought you put into your presentation. I love the idea of concocting a specialty drink like this cherry berry plum water and serving it up in old fashioned mason jars.

See how easy it is to incorporate your colors? If you're having a blue wedding, why not top your desserts with blueberries? This, to me, looks like the perfect treat for a Winter wedding.

Getting married in Napa Valley? Why not serve specialty cheeses with your wine? I love the looks of this cheese display and how it coordinates so effortlessly with this yellow palette.

Oh, and doesn't this sparkling strawberry lemonade look absolutely refreshing?

Want to serve up a tasty treat that is seriously charming? Why not serve frozen s'mores parfait?

Oh, and check out this fun + functional idea! Caramel coffee warmers! At your reception, offer caramel wafers to rest across the top of the cup -- the coffee will stay warm and the caramel will soften, turning the wafer into a sweet gooey treat.

I don't know about you, but I'm loving the looks of these cinnamon orange molasses cookies! The silhouettes shape is so unique and this presentation feels so cozy to me.

Berries in a basket is such a simple and sweet idea. Plus it just so happens to coordinate lovely with this palette of purples and blues!

Who else is loving the idea of this Fall treat? At a cocktail hour, pass candy cups of sweet and savory roasted nuts for a delicious, no-fuss treat. Each paper bowl holds just the right snack-size amount.

Going for a sophisticated black and white wedding? Not sure how to incorporate your colors into food? Why not consider incorporating your monogram onto a cookie? Definitely a modern presentation that is full of sophistication.

For Summer weddings, I can't say enough about these lemon flavored cupcakes. Aren't they simply the most adorable cupcakes ever?

So there you have it. My favorite ideas for wedding food + drink presentations! I told you I had a long post for you! I hope you can now see how easy it is to use food and drink as an opportunity to incorporate your color palette? To be honest, besides the cake tasting, one of my favorite things to do was to work on the food + drink menu! I guess I just love food that much. So tell me, are you planning to get creative when it comes to your wedding food? Have an idea that you can't wait to share with your caterer? I'd love to hear all about it!
