October 26, 2012 / 18 Comments
Well, hello there lovelies! And happy Friday! I don't know about you, but here lately I'm loving anything that shimmers and shines! That's why today I was inspired to put together a collage full of glitz and glam. So break out your sparklers and pop open your best bottle of champagne because this fun little number will inspire you to celebrate! Upscale styling doesn't have to be boring or predictable. Mix in some unexpected prints and what do you get? A perfectly fabulous display of gorgeousness, that's what! Polka dots, gingham, and stripes... Oh my! Oh, and just for good measure why not throw in some chevron and sequins?

I'm loving these sparkly accessories. Oh, and what's not to love about this confetti filled invitation? Imagine your guests opening your invitation and being showered in sparkles. Talk about a fun way to kick off the festivities! Oh, and why not invite your guests to send you off sparkler style? Seems like a perfect way to capture the magic of the night! So if you’re think of having a upscale affair, but you fear it might be viewed as stuffy and dare I say it... ''boring.'' I encourage you to dust your day with glittery goodness! Oh, and mix in your favorite patterns and throw in a pinch of pizzazz just for good measure! I promise... you'll thank me later!

{wedding wardrobe}: something blue

October 23, 2012 / 19 Comments
Deciding what my bridal party would wear had to be one of the most exciting parts of planning for me. Because let's face it... your bridal party's attire really is a great opportunity to make a big statement when it comes to your overall color palette and wedding style. What color dresses would my bridesmaids wear? And what about accessories? From jewelry to heels and everything in between, there really is no shortage of pretty ways to dress your bridal party. Try not to feel overwhelmed though! I promise it can be fun and easy!

{1. blue hees: zappos, 2. bib necklace: baublebar, 3. floral print dress: modcloth, 4. bowtie: elite solid 5. bib necklace: baublebar, 6. earrings: baublebar, 7. flame flats: kate spade, 8. sapphire ring: allurez, 9. necktie: ties.

Blue is such an amazing color! And I think it must be obvious that it's on my brain here lately because just a few days ago I devoted an entire post to the color. Personally, I'm really loving the idea of floral printed dresses for bridesmaids! Prints and patterns are all the rage nowadays and so why not spice things up a bit by mixing in an unexpected print? I also love the idea of pairing a printed dress with a solid heel. Plus what's not to love about these fun bib necklaces? Need a little something blue for yourself? Why not try these pearl embellished flats on for size?

{pantone palette}: harvest pumpkin 16-1260

October 22, 2012 / 19 Comments
Well, hello there loves! And Happy Monday to you! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I'm not sure how the weather has been where you are? But down here in Georgia the weather has been just beautiful. Definitely what I would consider the perfect Fall weather. And so today I thought it would be fun to revisit a palette I shared earlier this year here and to also feature another Pantone favorite of mine! Harvest Pumpkin, 16-1260 really is the sort of color that you could fall in love with. And believe me, I already have!

From weddings, to fashion and everything in between, I find myself gravitating towards this color even more so during this time of year. Because what's not to love? It's the perfect color to incorporate into a Fall wedding for sure. But I even find myself wanting to wear this color more during this time of year. A rustic orange scarf? A pair of orange flats? A great orange hand bag? You better believe I have each of these in my wardrobe. I know, I know... I'm a tad obsessed with orange. Always have been and always will be. So what do you think? Are there any other orange lovers out there? And what do you think of this Pantone shade?

{color study}: moody blues

October 18, 2012 / 23 Comments
Today I'm so excited because I've been just dying to share this color again with you for quite some time now. I typically call this color dusty blue, but I know there are other names out there for it too. In any case this moody blue-gray hue really is the sort of color that dreams are made of. Wouldn't you agree? Soft, subtle and definitely dreamy, my prediction is that this color will be making it's way into more weddings in the 2013 calender year. Because what's not to love?

I don't know about you, but this color has a way of transporting me to a different place and time. It sure does works beautifully with vintage inspired details. And I'm absolutely loving this belted slate blue dress. I'm not sure what it is, but that dress is totally reminding me of a 1950's flight attendant. Would surely make a fun bridesmaid dress! Plus it's definitely a dress you can wear way after the wedding is over. Pair it with these lovely coordinating floral earrings and your bridal party is sure to stand out as unique. So what do you think, my loves? Does your heart skip a beat for the moody blues?

{fall favorites}: these are a few of my favorite fall things! part 2

October 8, 2012 / 22 Comments
Well, hello there friends! And happy Monday to you! This weekend the weather really started cooling off where I'm at. I don't know about you, but that always puts me in a really, really great mood. Because what's not to love about Fall? So today I thought it would be fun to put together a ''Part 2'' to my original Fall Favorites post I shared with you here. So grab a glass of delicious apple cider and get your Pinterest finger ready! Because there is a whole lot of pretty in this post!

Autumn colored leaves have got to be one of the things I look forward to most all year. As a color lover, I think it's safe to say that I truly appreciate the beautiful colors that we see during this time of year.

Also I married my sweetheart in October, so this time of year is even more special to me because of that reason. As you might imagine, my house is already fully decked out for the season. Festive Fall wreaths, leaf garlands, potted mums...yep, I definitely do it up big at our house!

Plus I can't go without mentioning my true love for Fall fashion. Chunky scarves, equestrian style boots, knitted sweaters and outfits that layer are all on my list of favorites for the season. I'm currently obsessed with chunky scarves and this one is no exception!

Oh, and speaking of layering, who else is loving this beautiful mustard colored coat? I don't know about you, but I'm definitely putting this on my wish list! That ruffle collar and those over sized buttons really did have me at hello.

What else is on my list of favorites for Fall, you ask? Well, that would definitely have to be trips to the pumpkin patch. Oh, and hot apple cider! Sounds heavenly to me. So tell me, what is on your list of Fall favorites? Are you craving a trip to the mountains? Are you planning an overnight stay in a cozy little cabin? Or maybe you're dreaming of apple picking? Yep, those are definitely some of my favorite Fall activities too.

{pantone fashion color report}: spring 2013

October 6, 2012 / 3 Comments
When you're a color fanatic like I am, it's only natural to feel a little excited when you see the Pantone Fashion Color Report for the upcoming season. And so that's why when I saw the report today I just knew I had to share it with you guys. Yep, that's right... PANTONE has unveiled their Fashion Color Report for Spring 2013! A comprehensive overview of designer's use of color in their upcoming collections, the report features 10 colors for women's and men's fashion for Spring 2013! And well, I could not be more thrilled to weigh in with my thoughts and opinions on their fabulous choices.

Plus I thought it would be the perfect time to share with you some of the wedding color palettes that I've personally created that feature these lovely PANTONE hues! This season, designers are interested in addressing consumer's desire for self expression, balance and the need to re-energize. With these needs in mind, PANTONE has chosen a palette that mixes dynamic brights with novel neutrals. This exciting mix of colors allows for unique combinations that offer both practicality and versitality. What does that mean for the wedding industry? Keep reading to hear my thoughts.

The presence of green this Spring is sure undeniable! Like the first signs of Spring, Tender Shoots, a vibrant yellow-green, is energized, cheerful and full of vibrant undertones. I think brides will love this color because it communicates a sense of happiness and liveliness.

While Grayed Jade offers a subtle approach with it's hushed gray undertones... It has a softness and quietness about it that makes it easy for it to communicate romance and elegance. Differing in their intensity, I think brides will be attracted to each of these greens for different reasons depending on the mood their hoping to achieve.

{top row}: newlywedslovely bouquetbeeswax candlesflorals{middle row}: yellow bunting{bottom row}: invitationsoap favorscenterpiecebride.

Lemon Zest is definitely a color that brides have long loved and this Spring will be no different. Cheerful yellows are definitely high on the list when it comes to party palettes. I love how this color has a way of communicating that ''kick your shoes off and dance'' kind of vibe. I suggest pairing Lemon Zest with more muted colors like soft browns or slate gray.

Monaco Blue is a color that I'm really loving and I'm so glad it made Pantone's list for Spring! Anchoring Monaco Blue is a classic shade that offers both depth and a richness to an entire palette. I personally love to see this color used in nautical themed weddings or even weddings near the ocean. Combine Monaco Blue with Dusk Blue to achieve more of a monochromatic look. Or consider mixing it with Grayed Jade for a palette that will surely wow!

{top row}: lovely bridal portraitred earringscupcakes {middle row}: homemade raspberry pie {bottom row}: cupcakebridesmaid dressflatwareheels.

Poppy Red is the sort of color that is full of amazing energy. Seductive, sensual and surely celebratory, Poppy Red is definitely the sort of color that creates a powerful visual impact. Add a little red to your wedding day and you're sure to add a little pizzazz. Whether it's red lipstick or a fierce pair of red high heels... Poppy Red will surely turn heads.

{top row}: bridal style, table skirtburlap ring pillow via whichgoose,{bottom row}: tablescape by cedarwood weddingscalligraphy by laurahooperfrancesca miranda bridal.

Linen on the other hand is the sort of color that is easy on the eyes. It's soft, it's subtle and Linen is surely the sort of warm neutral that we're seeing more often for weddings. I love the idea of incorporating burlap details or even lace. When it comes to wedding palettes, I suggest incorporating Linen into your palette to add a little warmth.

Signifying the time of day when everything starts to wind down, Dusk Blue offers a calming vibe that I just can't get enough of. Dusk Blue is very much like Grayed Jade in that it acts as this season's newest neutral in the Pantone palette. Although I love the idea of using this color for Spring, I have to admit that I'm loving it even more for Winter weddings!

{top row}: bridesmaid dresscenterpiece idea via martha stewartkisses,{bottom row}: earringsgreen dress + lightsornamentsdress.

Sophisticated Emerald is a lively and radiant rich green that is full of clarity. I love that Emerald green made the list for Spring because I think that it's the perfect shade to communicate all kinds of lovely ideas for the season. Definitely a color that I feel is underused in weddings, my hope is that brides will begin using this color more often. Again, it's also another shade that I think works for other seasons like Winter.

{top row}: dresslovely lacebarn,{middle row}: decadent desserts,{bottom row}: cupcakesrustic mantelpretty favorsbridesmaid dress.

Looking for a lovely shade of lavender for your upcoming wedding and/or party? Why not consider African Violet! This shade is surely one that effortlessly pairs with neutrals like brown and gray. I personally love that you can pair this color with so many different shades to create all kinds of unexpected pairings. Like Nectarine for instance...

Nectarine is a bright citrusy shade that communicates a burst of energy that is unmatched. Celebratory in nature, this is the sort of color you just really can't take too seriously. And because of this reason, I just love Nectarine for Spring! Try pairing Nectarine shades like Lemon Zest or even Monaco Blue for an unexpected look. So what do you think of Pantone's top 10 choices for their 2013 Fashion Color Report? Are any of these colors catching your eye? Any favorites that you might consider using for your upcoming wedding or event? Still on the hunt for the perfect color? Be sure to check out all of our palettes here!
