{Twist & Shout}: Shades of Orange, Black + White

March 31, 2011 / 19 Comments

{Burnt Orange, Orange, Peach, Black & White}

Although I'm typically drawn to creating designs that lean towards a more vintage feel, sometimes it's really fun to create a palette with a modern look in mind. You may think of orange and black as being a palette reserved for Halloween, but I think if done right, you can pull this palette off during any season of the year. The trick with this palette is that you want to keep black to a bare minimum. Only using it for the guy's tuxes for example. While the rest of the palette is kept light and airy with fun punches of color splashed throughout. Some of the ideas I'm loving for this wedding include the modern & sophisticated design created for the reception space. I mean who is not loving those fun lanterns? {continued...}

Notice how the table design is kept very minimalistic? Some other fun ideas are sprinkled throughout including a button escort card display which creates a playful visual as well as those fun flags that the newlyweds are holding. I've never seen that idea before! Throw in some fun prints including the incorporation of newspaper clippings plus those great orange and white stripes, and you have the makings of a playful yet sophisticated modern soiree. So what do you think? Are you loving this palette?

{Sweet, Sweet Love}; Dusty Rose, Blush Pink, Peach, Antique Gold, Ivory & White

March 30, 2011 / 12 Comments

{Dusty Rose, Blush Pink, Peach, Antique Gold, Ivory & White}

Why not consider a palette of exuberant pinks and shimmering golds to create a wedding that is elegant without being stuffy? Whether you go with a shell pink, a dusty rose, or a cotton-candy pink you're sure to make a statement that is nothing short of dreamy. Or why not combine as many pinks as you like (they mix and match with surprising ease) and then crown them in glittering golds? I really love playing with pinks palettes. Besides pink + gray, my all time favorite pink combination has to be pink and gold. Because when these two come together something so effortlessly pretty happens. It's romance, it's love, it's all the things little girls dream of when they think of their wedding day. Some of the ideas I'm loving for this wedding include the bridal hair piece, that sophisticated wedding cake design and that adorable pink and gold heart shaped tea cup set. {continued...}

gown detail and bridal style

And are you loving this bridal look as much as I am? It doesn't hurt that this bride is stunning, but don't you love the frilly detail on her gown and that whimsical hair piece? And what about all of that gorgeous detail on the sash of that bridal gown! Where is it written that a bouquet must be carried? Why not wear it instead? These millinery roses were fashioned in iridescent pinks, peaches, and golds, and are pinned to a lustrous sash -- a simple length of wide ribbon.

Rustic Chic Love: Latte, Shades of Blue & Ivory

{Latte, Powder Blue, Slate Blue, Navy Blue & Ivory}

Sometimes I happen upon a palette and I just think to myself, wow! That's how I'm feeling about this rustic chic palette. There's something about these colors that really grab me. Maybe it's because I'm absolutely surprised by how well this dusty shade of latte is pairing with these shades of blue. Or maybe I'm simply loving all this texture? Whatever it is, I'm admittedly having a little love affair with this color palette. If you look closely you can even find some very subtle hints of orange and lavender in the centerpiece and bouquets. Not enough to consider them as part of the overall color palette, but it's variations like these that really make this palette stand out. A certain richness is being conveyed and I really love it. {continued...}

One of the standout elements for me is that bouquet & the centerpieces! The bouquet arrangement includes a dried Star of Persia, dried agapanthus, succulents, silver brunia, copper beech, seedpods, and branches while the centerpiece is composed of assorted vessels holding dried allium, moss, and bittersweet branches. Are you loving this like I am?

just peachy: a palette of peach & green

March 24, 2011 / 15 Comments

{Orange, Peach, Ivory, Light Green, Taupe}

A Spring wedding is the best time to use a softer palette like this one. This palette of shades of peach & hints of green and taupe really has a way of coming across as sweet and romantic! A lot of what's catching my eye this Spring are the blooms! Because really there is no better season for wedding flowers than Spring, I think! I love these peachy bouquets accented by dahlias. And the lace! I'm loving lace this season! It's little details like this that make for a very romantic wedding. Want to add some vintage flair to your wedding? What about attaching a cameo brooch to your bridal bouquet? I've always loved that idea! {continued...}

Details We Love

This palette manages to be sweetly romantic without being overly frilly. I'm so in love with the bride's full wedding dress and her groom's attire. Taupe is such a great color for groomsmen, especially for Spring! So tell me, are you feeling this peachy palette?
