{palette love}: orange and green

January 28, 2011

Sometimes it's fun to take a look back at color palettes we've featured in the past & take a closer look! I still can't get over how much you all loved this palette! Hey, we all know how fun it is to shake things up a bit! And green & orange is a palette that does just that! Looking for an unexpected palette for your Spring or Summer wedding? Consider choosing this modern & lively color palette!

1. Bridal Party, 2. Handmade Clutch, 3. Table Setting, 4. Cake 5. Cake Detail.

We first shared this palette back in April of 2010...here. And surprisingly a lot of you really adored this palette and thought that it was a lot of fun. I have to admit, I can definitely see why! This palette is just bursting at the seems with fun energy! It's modern, it's sophisticated and quite frankly, it's really quite hip! Yep, I said it, hip! So what do you think? Is this unexpected palette catching your eye? Are you surprised by the way these colors look side by side? I think this color palette was one of the most surprising for me because it's one that I would never have thought would have a chance at looking pretty.

{Color Tip:} When using contrasting colors, decide on one primary color and one color to use more sparingly to contrast. In this case we see a little more green than we do orange, which creates a fun & dynamic visual}

So are you loving this palette? Dare to use it at your upcoming wedding? We love this bold and fun palette and we hope you do too! Tell us all about it!

{Yellow, Gold, Shades of Gray & White}

There's no mistaking, we adore this color palette! When shades of gray meet shades of yellow something truly special happens! It's just one of those palettes that is effortlessly chic. So when Marissa came to me with this palette in mind for her wedding, I was excited to put together this board! So many ideas came to mind! I imagined bridesmaids dressed in yellow knee length dresses with groomsmen in gray pin striped suits. Such a fun contrast this makes! I also imagined a beautiful modern wedding cake with tiers of gray and white. I think it's simplicity really makes for a nice statement. {continued...}

{By Request}: Pretty in Pink

January 24, 2011

{Light Pink, Mauve, Antique Gold, Blush Pink & Ivory}

When I got the request to put together this palette, I instantly started dreaming about all the pretty ideas that I could use! Shannon wrote to me about her Spring wedding and spoke about how she wanted her wedding to feel like a fairytale. Pink symbolizes love, beauty, romance, and definitely has a very feminine feel to it. Simply put, this is a palette that would look beautiful paired with all things fancy & dainty. I imagined a wedding with fine china, beautiful lace overlays & gorgeous attention to detail. I would definitely choose ornate stationery and hire a professional Calligrapher to address my envelopes. I'd choose a script that was feminine with lots of movement. With a soft palette like this one, it's all about the little details. Since you don't have big bold color to rely on to make a statement, it's all about finding small ways to express yourself.

{White & Pewter}: A Landscape Blanketed in Snow

January 11, 2011

{White & Pewter}

Here in Georgia, we've had a couple days of heavy snow and a lot of ice! So much so that we've had to stay in, and stay off the roads completely! My husband has been home from work and we've had a lot of unexpected down time! It's been so great!! There's nothing better than a snow day! When I looked out my windows these past couple of days, I had a hard time not imagining a wedding amidst an all white back drop! Sometimes in the absence of color, something really special happens. Imagine a landscape blanketed in snow...a Winter wonderland if you will. A white palette accented only by a hint of pewter, perhaps a little silver.
