{Color Conundrum}: Combining Shades of Pink + Blue?

{Fuchsia, Navy Blue, Powder Blue, Camel + Ivory}

Today's 'Color Conundrum' comes from Erin O'brien who asked if it was possible to use the colors pink and blue together without it turning out looking like a baby shower? Good question! And, Erin, my answer is YES, YES, YES! You surely can blend pinks and blues for your upcoming wedding. Here are my thoughts... When you want to combine colors like pink and blue you do have to be careful. My suggestion to you is to simply opt for navy blue instead of a baby blue for the primary color. And in regards to choosing the perfect shade of pink, why not choose a deep and vibrant shade like fuchsia? Now, that's not to say you can't add in a dash of light blue, but just try to keep it at a minimum! Oh, and since I'm all about rounding out a palette with neutrals, why not incorporate a little camel and ivory?

Details We Love

I think the reason why this palette works and doesn't come across as 'baby-showerish' is because #1, I opted to use the deeper shades of these colors and not their pastel versions. Also I think that combining some neutrals really does have a way of creating a little unexpected depth. So what do you think? Might you consider using colors like these for your wedding? I happen to think that this palette would look really great for a late Summer wedding or even Spring! And who doesn't love the looks of that sorbet display? Looks delish to me! PS.
