The Perfect Palette - Branding + Redesign

Eeek! So if you follow me on Instagram, then you know that yesterday was the day that I started to unveil phase one of my redesign for The Perfect Palette! You see, giving my website a new look and feel has been something I've wanted to do for quite some time. But the thought of a redesign felt almost overwhelming!

Change is hard, as so many of you know. And so instead of putting it off (like I've done so many times over) I've decided to do it in phases! Baby steps, if you will. And well, I couldn't be more excited to show you guys the new and improved look. There's still so much to unveil including a couple of surprises and a few new features. But this is the start of something exciting, you guys!

And I just have to say that it feels so great to have found a look that fits my brand. And most importantly, it's been really fun to imagine all of the possibilities!

Check out my new header, badge design, and colors, y'all! I have to admit that I'm feeling pretty excited about this new direction I'm going.

You see, The Perfect Palette is my baby. It's a six year project that I started at a time in my life that I so needed a creative outlet. And it's that same creative outlet that has brought me to where I am today. I don't often like to toot my own horn, but every once in a while I find myself looking back to the early days of this website and thinking about how much I've grown.

Behind the scenes, I've grown so much as a person. Since starting my website, I planned a wedding, got married, had 3 children, moved twice - purchasing two homes along the way, and quickly made this website into what you see today. Behind the scenes, I established The Perfect Palette as an honest to goodness business, and I've really taken my brand to new heights that I never thought I'd reach.

Since my site launched in 2008, I've seen so many other blogs undergo multiple redesigns and changes. And truthfully, it has been on my mind for quite some time to make some changes as well. But nevertheless, I just never got around to it. Life (and this busy business of mine) kept me from really being able to focus on it. Until recently that is. But that's not to say that I haven't been proud of what I have been able to do thus far, however.

Far from it, actually. And you want to why? It's because I haven't had any help from anyone, you guys. It's just me. (this will be changing soon, by the way). But I still giggle a little when I get emails that read, "Good morning, ladies..." as if there's an entire team over here.

He he, far from it. Heck, I can still remember starting this site and not even really knowing how to create a collage. I taught myself everything. There was a lot of trial and error. And a lot of mistakes along the way. Yes, I was an art major, but I didn't graduate with a graphic design degree or anything. And so it's just been really exciting for me to think about all that I've learned along the way. From the boring, backend stuff like HTML, to the more creative stuff you guys get to see.

Not only have I learned a ton, but I've also had the opportunity to develop so many relationships with other brands and businesses. It still blows my mind that I've had the opportunity to work with companies like Kate Spade, Target, and even Nordstrom. The collaborations have been so exciting for me. I truly feel like I've been able to mix my love for business with my love for art. And for that, I'm so entirely thankful.

And not only that, I've gotten the opportunity to work with so many other fellow bloggers. Women whom I admire and respect. Creatives who truly "get" what I do, and in turn, I "get" them too. The wedding industry continues to amaze me. The talent is insane. And well, it feels pretty good to be a part of something this meaningful and to be a part of a community that is so supportive.

But you see, I didn't always feel this fulfilled. The truth is that I wanted so desperately to break into some creative profession after graduating from art school. Any creative profession, really. But with no real experience under my belt, I had a really hard time. And so the days went by, and after a while, I kinda gave up on that dream. I had bills to pay and I told myself that in order to make a living, I had to go do something that I wasn't thrilled to wake up and do each day. So into corporate America I went. And there I stayed for about 5 years. That is... until I got engaged. Planning our wedding reignited that creative spark that I had so missed in myself. And well, it wasn't long before I had the idea to start The Perfect Palette. And I was hooked. Not to mention happy, fulfilled, and inspired.

And so the reason I'm telling you guys this is simple. Go for your dreams! If you have an idea, chase it. If you want a different path, choose it. If you want to wake up every single day and be happy. You can do it. But you just have to take a leap of faith. I did. I quit that corporate job of mine and I made blogging my business. Sound crazy? Maybe. But it's working for me. And I couldn't be more happier.

Anyways, sorry I kind of went off on a tangent there. It's just that I'm feeling really inspired and excited for the future! And this new look of mine is just the beginning. So stay tuned for lots of more exciting new changes, okay? And if you don't mind, I thought I'd start sharing a few more posts like this one. Posts where I talk about my blog, and my business, and branding, and things like that. Let me know if that's of interest, okay?

And do me a favor and let me know what you think of this redesign of mine?
