6 Creative Last Minute Halloween Ideas

October 31, 2013 / 29 Comments
It's Halloween! So you know what that means, right? If you haven’t already figured out what you're going to do for the Halloween party that you decided was a good idea to host, now is the time! Lucky for you, there are so many creative ideas out there that are quick and easy and perfect for those last minute parties.

So what's the quickest way to spice up your pumpkin? Out with the carving and in with the monogramming, I say! Hey, I'm from Georgia. What can I say? We monogram everything. But seriously, guys. Grab a sharpie and hop to it! Free hand will do just fine. But if you're feeling a little hesitant you can always find a simple stencil online! Just find one you like, print it out and voila! Set it outside your door for instant curb appeal!

What are my other favorite go-to ideas for spooky soirees on the fly? How adorable are these candy bars dressed as 'mummies.' Simply buy full size Hershey bars, grab some toilet paper and some googly eyes and you've got the makings of the coolest treats on the block. Trust me, if word gets out that you're giving away full sized candy bars, you'll run out of candy fast. (Not always a bad thing in my opinion)

Looking for another way to spruce up your sweets this Halloween? Aren't these DIY trick or treat bags the cutest things ever? Get the free printable and the full tutorial here. So fun and festive! Don't you think? Speaking of fun, how great is this pumpkin turned cooler? Simply empty out a pumpkin, add ice, add beer... And there you have it! An instant conversation piece. See, I'm all about simplicity, guys. Well, that and cold beer. Smart and chic at the same time. It's a win-win!

Oh, and don't beat yourself up! Sure, you waited 'til the last minute, but it's okay! It's not your fault! October has been a crazy busy month! But hopefully now you'll be all set to entertain in style. Know anyone else who has waited 'til the last minute to start planning the party they're hosting tonight? Be sure to share this post with them! Halloween help is here and it's not too late to add a bit of flair to your spooky soiree. And remember, sometimes the simplest ideas are the best!

A sweet reader of mine named Hannah recently wrote in to me and asked if I could put together a palette using these colors. She really wanted to see if these shades could work together and asked for my advice on what other colors to incorporate. And so off to the drawing board I went... And here you have it! A perfect palette of navy and mint. And yes, it totally works!

I personally like the idea of incorporating a bit of metallic gold throughout. I think it compliments these creative cool colors so nicely. Mix in some striped linens and some fun confetti garland and you're well on your way to setting the scene for fun! So yes! Navy and mint gets my vote. What about you? Are these colors inspiring anyone else to see some new possibilities?

A Modern Fall Wedding | Orange + Gray

October 20, 2013 / 8 Comments

I can still remember how excited I was to discover this color palette back in 2009 when I was planning my own wedding. And although I didn't end up using this exact color palette, I often dreamt of the possibilities of a orange and gray wedding. At the time, this pairing was really unique. And I think most of that perceived uniqueness really came from the idea of using gray as a neutral. At the time (in the wedding world at least) the most used neutrals were black or navy. And I remember brown was also emerging as a hot neutral for weddings.

But then gray hit the scene. And boy did we all swoon. Because, seriously guys. What's not to love? I think it's very beautiful alternative to the classic black. It softens, it anchors and it even incorporates a cool modern flair. Without even trying! I don't know about you but I'm completly obsessed with these bridesmaid dresses. See how pretty it can be when you incorporate a print like floral? And those clutches? Yeah, those totally had me at hello. So what do you think? Are you a fan of using gray as a neutral?

The cooler weather, the chunky sweaters, the pumpkin spiced lattes... yep, it really can't get much better than this. And so today I thought we'd take a quick look back at three of my favorite Fall color palettes from previous years here on The Perfect Palette.

So grab a cup of jo and get ready for some serious Fall goodness... because these pretty palettes are sure to make you smile. Or at least maybe give you the push you might need to go ahead and hang that wreath of yours!

{full credits available via original posts here: 1. wheat berry 2. little harvest bride 3. an autumn affair}

I'm loving these palettes because they all have that same rustic chic feel. They're warm, they're cozy and they're definitely the sort of scenes that I wouldn't mind jumping into and staying a while. Some of the stand out ideas for me would definitely have to be these darling harvest inspired cakes! Oh, and I'm loving the idea of saying 'i do' in the country! This sweet little farmhouse really takes me somewhere charming. And the vibrant color of those leaves has a way of inspiring me like no other.

So there you go, my loves. I hope I've inspired you to get into a Fall state of mind. Or at least maybe you'll think about burning that favorite Yankee candle of yours! What's my favorite scent? That would definitely have to be the spiced pumpkin. I know, I know. I'm super predictable. But it smells sooo good!

6 Wedding Styling Tips | Blushing in Blue

October 16, 2013 / 11 Comments
1. Prints Add Visual Interest
To me, this palette is all about communicating elegance and sophistication. Looking for a unique way to do so? Why not incorporate patterns like this gorgeous floral print? Whether you opt for a lovely polka dot printed bridesmaid dresses or some pretty floral printed linens... One thing is for sure, they're sure to get noticed! And that's a good thing! Just don't go print crazy, okay?

2. Don't Be Afraid to Go Bold!
In keeping with the idea of adding visual interest, I think it's really important to remember that it's completely okay to ''go bold'' at times. These blue hydrangeas really pop against this bridal gown. And it's totally taking the idea of "something blue" to a whole new level. Don't you think? Tip: If your bridesmaids are dressed in blue, I'd suggest simple white bouquets in order to create a little contrast.

3. Vintage Touches Add Elegance
Remember when we were talking about patterns and prints? Well, here's a fun way to incorporate some more! Vintage style is really popular because it carries such a classic feel. I love this patterned china for many reasons. But mostly, I love how effortlessly it ties the color palette into the place settings.

4. Experiment with Styles
When it comes to styling your wedding, always remember to experiment with styles. Just because strapless seems to be "the thing" to do right now, doesn't mean you have to select those for your wedding! For instance, I'm loving these long sleeved bridesmaid dresses. Unique, flattering and all kinds of pretty, these are the sort of dresses that will look amazing in photos and will be super easy to wear again!

5. Embellish the Details
When it comes to weddings, it's all in the details! That's why I'm totally in love with this cake! It has such an ornate and intricate feel. And it's the perfect example of the sweet embellishments I've grown to love! Be sure to carry your attention to detail throughout all the elements of your wedding day!

6. Something Blue
These bright and vibrant heels are perfect for your ''something blue!'' The crystal accented broach on top and that shade of blue is just absolutely stunning. Don't you think? Looking for a "something blue?" I don't know about you, but these lovelies had me at hello.

So there you have it! 6 simple styling tips to take your wedding day from drab to fab. Follow these and you're sure to discover a look that's perfect for you! Because what's not to love? Of course I fell head over heels (no pun intended) for these sweet and sparkly Louboutins. And I don't know about you, but I seriously can't take my eyes off of those beautiful red blooms. Such a simple presentation and yet so perfectly beautiful. 3 Ways to do Fall Neutrals

October 11, 2013 / 12 Comments
It's definitely feeling like Fall here in Georgia this week. Which of course makes me just about the happiest girl alive. I don't know about you, but a nip in the air always has a way of putting me in the best mood. Maybe it's because it gives me a reason to turn the AC off and open up a few windows. Or maybe it's because I sort of have a way of romanticizing Fall and everything it entails?

One thing is for sure... Fall has a way of capturing me. The colors, the textures, the smells. Yep, I'll always be a Fall girl at heart! And so today I thought I'd put together a few Fall color palettes. But instead of going all bright and bold, today I decided to stay on the softer side. So here go! Here's 3 neutral palettes inspired by the greatest season of them all! Yes, yes. I'm totally playing favorites.

This first palette combines the prettiest of neutrals with barely there blues and just a hint of copper. I really love this one because it has a very natural feel. It's harvest inspired, but at the same time it's not the same old generic look we seem to see year after year.

Looking for a color palette that is a bit unexpected? I'm loving these moody purples combined with gray for Fall. These faded tones are beyond gorgeous. And I can't help but fall in love with this lace, vintage inspired fascinator.

And lastly, we have this lovely look that combines dusty blue with shades of soft gray and a yellowy-ivory shade. It's natural and a bit rustic. And I really like it because it comes lace accents like we see here on this gown as well as touches of burlap. It incorporates a little bit of fancy and a little bit of that down home charm that's always been near and dear to my heart. Plus these colors are definitely taking me somewhere dreamy!

So there you go, loves. I hope you enjoyed seeing these Fall inspired neutrals. I definitely enjoyed putting them together! Tip: Always remember when looking at neutrals that there are warm & cool neutrals as well as light & dark neutrals. So try to keep this in mind when determining the perfect shades to pair them with! So tell me... which of these 3 do you like most? And why?
