{A Wedding Cake Round Up!}: And Palettes to Coordinate!

{Wedding Cakes + Color Palettes!}

There are many ways you can use color to bring your wedding to life. One of the ways is through your wedding cake design. Looking back at my own wedding, one of the things that stands out as surprising is the fact that there was virtually not a piece left standing of our wedding cake! It was that tasty. I guess we chose a winner! Aside from having such a fun time at our cake tasting, one of the things that was really important to me was the design of the cake.

I remember what fun it was sketching out designs and working closely with our baker in order to create my dream wedding cake. Today, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite wedding cakes + the coordinating palettes that I would pair them with. As you can see...there are so many types of cakes! From contemporary, to casual...from ornate to simple. Your wedding cake is definitely a focal at your wedding and a great opportunity to make a statement.

Personally, I love a cake that communicates the mood of the event or wedding. For instance, if you're having a rustic affair, you might incorporate a rustic pattern like the one below.

Or if you're having a very sophisticated, whimsical wedding, you might choose a very loose design like this one? Doesn't this one look so dreamy?

Or, if you're having a smaller affair, you might consider a very casual and fun wedding cake design like this one. Only one tier and bursting with fun, this wedding cake is definitely the type you might see at a backyard wedding or perhaps you might go for a look like this if you're trying to achieve a very homespun, handmade look.

I've always been a fan of cakes that make a big, bold statement, but in a very sophisticated way! I like how these intertwining rings make such a fun statement. Plus, who could resist the floral details?

For all of you classic brides, you might want to go for a very ornate wedding cake like this one. But just because you're going to go classic, doesn't mean you can't be daring with your use of color. I love how this cake is very ornate and classic yet the the frosting color is so unexpected!

Nothing says modern like the use of fondant. And although it's not my favorite choice due to the fact that I find fondant not the tastiest stuff in the world, I do love how clean the presentation is and there's a lot of fun things you can do with fondant. I love how these tiers are square and not round!

Here's another casual look that is simply sweet. It's actually a homemade cake! Isn't it all kinds of fun? I love the floral accents and the way they dressed it up a bit by placing it on a fancy cake stand. Aren't cake stands the best?

This cake is simply gorgeous! Again, notice their use of color here. I love the lacy, ornate patterns. It almost feels like toile. I'm really adoring how they incorporated the monogram too! This wedding cake is definitely a lovely one.

Now, this cake had me at hello. I've don't know about you, but I'm adoring the drizzling affect that they created as well as the exposed tiers. The gold leaf topper is absolutely unique and perfect for a Fall wedding.

When it comes to deciding on your cake design, you also want to think about the season. I love how this cake communicates both Spring and Summer. The small dots are simply charming.

And how could I go without mentioning this fun-filled cake! I paired this cake with a palette of blue and pink. If you look closely you'll see that this palette actually has a boardwalk theme. I love the bunting that this cake has draped on each tier. It seems to communicate the same fun, celebratory vibe that the palette has.

I hope I've showed you that not all wedding cakes need to be white and colorless. You can actually do a lot with color nowadays when it comes to your wedding cake design! I love this cake below! Isn't it absolutely fun + unique?

Oh, and in case you're wondering, my delicious cake in which no slice was left standing consisted of almond cake with a blend of cream cheese + buttercream frosting. Oh, and raspberry filling. We seriously got so many compliments on it. And let me tell you...somehow it was even tastier a year later! I am so looking forward to placing the order for our anniversary cake this year! A tradition we've decided to carry on every year from here on out! What can I say, I love cake! So tell me, what kind of cake do you love?
