{A Spring Soiree}: Blending Aqua, Light Green & Antique Gold

January 27, 2010

{Aqua, Light Green & Antique Gold}

Sometimes I happen upon a color palette that just really makes me feel inspired! This palette of aqua, light green, and antique gold is exactly one of those palettes. There is something very soft about how these colors come together. It's light & airy, a tad feminine, and also incredibly romantic. I think this palette would look gorgeous for either a Summer or a Spring wedding. {continued...}

{Summer Love}: A Palette of Yellow & Slate Gray

January 24, 2010

{Yellow, Slate Gray & Gray}

Nothing says Summer like the color yellow. And while we still may be in the midst of the month of Winter, I have to admit that I'm looking forward to sunnier days! Summer weddings have to be on the top of my list of favorites! It's just such a carefree time. Summer brings back fond childhood memories for me. I remember running through the sprinklers at full speed, summer treats like ice cream and popsicles, and of course who could forget the fun I had with my neighborhood friends and our lucrative lemonade stand? For me, a Summer wedding is the perfect time to bring back that childhood fun! It's also a great time to use bright, vibrant color. For this palette, I chose the bright color of yellow & the subdued, ever-so-chic, color of slate gray. Some of my favorite ideas in this board include the fun and quirky bridal party attire, the gorgeous handmade clutches that I imagined would make for perfect bridesmaid gifts and of course the idea of setting up an old fashioned lemonade stand at the reception!

But for those of you who are...rest assured you're not alone! There is something so fun about this palette. Any brides-to-be out there who are considering yellow? Do tell!

{Peacock Feathered Fairytale}: A Palette of Blues and Greens.

January 20, 2010

{Navy Blue, Blue, Lime Green, and Chartreuse}

This bright and cheery palette was inspired none other than the gorgeous colors you find in peacock feathers. But unlike so many feather themed weddings we're seeing nowadays I decided to keep this palette pretty much feather-free with the exception of the small feathers to be worn the bridesmaids hair. You see, I think sometimes it's easy for a bride to latch on to one theme and to go crazy with it. I'm sure you've seen the overly done themes I'm talking about! So many times you see brides going crazy with peacock feathers! They want them on their cakes, in their bouquets, in their centerpieces, tucked in a napkin! {continued...}

Peacock Feather Accents & Newlyweds

After a while it's like okay enough with it! Sometimes too much is just, well too much. So this board was all about taking inspiration from an idea like a feather and using it to bring your wedding to life without overdoing it. Less really is more ladies! Wouldn't you agree? Because although I definitely think that there is something to be said about carrying a theme throughout your wedding, you don't want it to get to point where the theme is more the focus than the wedding itself! Just my two cents!

Fireworks Display at Wedding

Great Shoes!

Oh and how fun would it be to have your very own fireworks display during the reception? For this bride, I imagined her bridesmaids would wear a shimmery gold gown accented by coordinating jewelry, clutches and shoes. I just love the idea of giving bridesmaids a special necklace to wear during the wedding and reception! For favors I imagined that this couple could give away mini bottles of champagne and personalized champagne flutes! Here's to 2010! I'm truly looking forward to unveiling some exciting plans that I have in the works and I'm beyond excited for all that 2010 has in store! Happy New Year to you and yours!
