Inspiration Board 241: Crimson, Marigold + Chocolate

May 6, 2009

{Crimson, Marigold & Chocolate Brown}

When bride-to-be, Abbey, recently wrote to me with the color combination of crimson, brown, and sunflower yellow...I was absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to put together a special event design, just for her and her fiance. Abbey said that her soon to be hubby requested that they have sunflowers in the wedding and she also mentioned that they liked the french country feel but with a vintage flair. So off to the drawing board I went..and the result? A lovely day full of personality and special touches that make for an absolutely charming wedding! {continued...}

In my design, bridesmaids wore candy apple red dresses which all had different necklines. This subtle difference really made for a unique look that guests truly appreciated. For Abbey's groomsmen, I picked out a rich chocolately brown tuxedo which made for a very handsome look! On their lapels, I brought in a touch of the marigold yellow which came across as both whimsical and rustic. Centerpieces were composed of sunflowers and the tables were dressed in red and white striped linens. For added interest, specialty china that had a french country feel was flown in for the occasion and table numbers were made by hand. In lieu of wedding cake, guests were unexpectedly treated to candy apples, carmel corn, and funnel cakes! Guests went home with jars of homemade apple butter and a sweet thank you from the newlyweds.

I have stumbled on your blog and am thrilled that I did! I design wedding cakes, and I can't think of a better place for inspirations on ideas. You are so creative! This really gives me an idea where brides are coming from, with their color schemes when they come to me for cakes. Maybe now I'll be more prepared...
