{So in Love}: Poppy Red, Plum + White

April 29, 2009

{Red, Plum + White}

When poppy red and the color purple meet up it's pretty hard to deny that these colors were born to go hand in hand. Quirky, summery & down right pretty..this color palette has to be one of the most playful palettes I've seen. That's why when Allie wrote to me and told me about the summer soiree she was planning, I was instantly excited to put something special together for her big day! In my design, I chose lovely lavender gowns that were accented with red checkered sashes. {continued...}

Lovely Bridesmaids Gowns

I thought this checkered pattern was so much fun that I decided to incorporate it into the groomsmen's attire. Just check out how adorable those boys are! For a further pop of color, ladies carried bright red poppies that were tied with patterned fabric as well. The newlyweds served a tasty signature drink that was also red in color. Guests went home with candy apples & jars of homemade raspberry jelly.

Whoa, I LOVE this combo so much. It is something I would have NEVER thought to pair together. It is completely different from what I am envisioning for my wedding day, but it has me doing some rethinking now, thats for sure. And I love seeing those flowers because those are currently my flower of choice, for this week anyways.

Great coming across this website! I've been searching for a design board with red and plum! However i just have to ask because i'm having a hard time finding a design board for my four colors :) i'm trying to play with! I hope these colors will work - Red, Plum, Turquoise and Gold! - i've seen different shades of turquoise so I think that's just throwing me off right now...however any feedback will be appreciated thanks!

I love it! We don't have "wedding colors" (it's not our thing to design that way) but most of what we've chosen has ended up being either red or purple, with a lot of copper accents.

Our purples are much darker, though, and the red a lot stronger. All the metal goods in the decoration (flower pots etc) are copper as are any ribbons we need. My dress is cranberry red (didn't want a white dress) with copper and gold patterned fabric accents. Tablecloths alternate purple and red. Paper lanterns are purple and red, with a few natural paper (ivory/antique color) ones thrown in there.

I'd be interested to see a board done in deep plum (instead of the lighter purple in a lot of these pictures) and ruby red with copper!

This is about the color scheme I am doing too! Not as much red, it is more of an accent..the focus color is plum and lavender. Love the cherry favors! We have a cherry tree that blooms the sweetest cherries every year!
