{Spring Palette}: Plum & Gold

{Plum & Gold}

When Jennifer wrote to me about the wedding she was planning in the palette of eggplant and buttercup ...I couldnt help but put my own spin on it and add a touch of gold. In her note to me, she told me that she was getting married in a glass chapel at a botanical garden. When I saw the picture of the location, I went ahead and took the liberty of saving it to my desktop and adding it into the design. What a beautiful location! Simply gorgeous :) Jennifer went on to tell me that she wanted an elegant wedding, but nothing too stuffy. She said that she was having difficulty determining a direction to go in for the reception decor, and also explained that there would be alot of kids at the reception and she wanted there to be something special for them to do during the party. {continued...}

Other things that she needed help sorting out were chosing a color for the linens and overall look of centerpieces. In this design, I opted for a buttercup/gold pintuck linen with a lace overlay. Centerpieces were kept low and simple and were displayed in square shallow vases. Bridesmaids stood out in eggplant and accents of buttercup could be seen in things like the menus, the groomsmens ties, and table numbers. Candles surrounded the space giving the room that extra special ambiance. Not to be forgotten, kiddies were entertained for hours at the coloring table where they provided with easels, tons of paper and eggplant and buttercup colored crayons.

My daughter is getting married at this chapel. We are having a hard time with colors for an early spring wedding....she's considered aqua, champagne, gold, plum, but the big caveat is the bridesmaids dresses are black...any ideas?

This is Anthony Chapel at Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs, AR. This board was created for my wedding. I think you can put any color with black dresses and it would be gorgeous.
