{City Chic Love}: Gold & Black-White Damask

February 18, 2009

{Gold, Black & White }

When Danielle wrote to me about the wedding she was planning...I could not wait to help her out!Danielle told me that she was letting her girls chose any black cocktail length dress and that for the most part her wedding was black/white. The ceremony was to take place in a beautiful little chapel, and her reception site is an upscale restaurant on the top floor of a building in uptown Charlotte. Other than great food, Danielle told me that the best part is floor to ceiling windows all around the dining room. She said she wanted something fun and elegant without being stuffy. {continued...}

She also said that she did not want it to look 'matchy-matchy'...but she didn't want it to look like they just threw things together. In my design, I kicked up Danielle's palette a little by adding a warm golden color to her black/white palette ...and I also decided to add some interest by incorporating the damask into little details like invitations and favors. I wanted this wedding to feel swanky, candelit, warm, fun & inviting. To acheive this, I used votives & candles on just about every surface, I hung 2 beautiful all white floral wreaths on chapel doors, and I chose a cake design that was sleek and sophisticated. To add to the fun factor, I incorporated an oreo bar with ice cold milk.

I love it! It's perfect Chrissy. I love the damask and gold- it brings everything together so nicely. And my FI loves black and gold (those are his team colors). Thank you so much!

Oohhh awesome! Glad the gold had some significance! Do you think you will go with the gold accents? Would love to see pictures of your big day once it all comes together!

I think we will go with gold because the linens the site uses are goldish and using all those lovely tealights will give off a gold glow, so incorporating it a bit more will really tie things together. I'm so much more excited now. Thanks Chrissy!
